Municipal e-Permitting Platform
This project supported a regional planning commission and partner municipalities in transitioning from manual permitting processes to a centralized digital system. The work focused on modernizing how applications are received, managed, and tracked across departments while improving visibility for both applicants and internal teams.
The platform introduces a public-facing portal that allows users to create accounts, submit permit applications, and access services through a single online entry point, replacing traditional email and in-person submission channels.
Application Intake & Processing
The solution digitizes the application intake process by replacing manual submission methods with structured online forms. Applicants are guided through required fields and document uploads, ensuring submissions are complete at the point of entry.
Each application is automatically assigned a unique identifier, allowing submissions to be tracked consistently across review stages. Online payment functionality is also integrated, enabling permit fees to be processed digitally and reducing dependency on separate financial tracking systems.
Outcomes & Completion
The solution improved processing efficiency by reducing manual handling and improving how application data is managed across municipalities. Applicants gained better visibility into their status, reducing the need for follow-ups and manual inquiries.
It also strengthened data consistency and reporting for internal teams, supporting more reliable operational oversight.
Completed applications are finalized through an official approval outcome within the digital permitting workflow.
