How East Coast Innovation Strengthened SmoothMove with Automated Data Pipelines, AI Driven Counting, and Integrated Operational Intelligence
East Coast Innovation (ECI), a New Brunswick–based leader in aquaculture technology, needed a more scalable way to manage the growing volume of operational and underwater video data generated by its SmoothMove fish transfer system. Manual processes, fragmented vessel data, and inconsistent connectivity made it difficult to maintain data quality, support clients, and prepare for AI driven analytics.
IPSG Technology partnered with ECI to modernize its data infrastructure, develop an AI powered fish counting model, automate data transfer from vessels, and build a scalable foundation for future AI capabilities.
Unified AI Dashboard
To support operational intelligence, IPSG introduced a centralized AI dashboard that brings all operational data into one workspace. Teams can upload and process underwater video, review AI generated insights, validate fish counting accuracy, and monitor environmental conditions in real time.
Built in filtering, search, and export tools support collaboration across teams, while administrative controls ensure secure access and user management. The result is a single, integrated environment for operational intelligence, data management, and AI driven decision support.
Centralized Data Management
To ensure reliable reporting and consistent operations, all reference data supporting workflows was centralized. Standardized datasets such as operational types, locations, and categories help reduce errors, simplify data entry, and improve data quality. This foundation supports AI-driven analysis and and more efficient workflows, helping teams make faster and more informed decisions.

Through Digital Boost 2.0 and 3.0, we built a robust data management infrastructure and developed an AI model to automate fish counting. In this phase, we extended the database and created a stable pipeline to gather additional data directly from vessels at sea. ECI is doing groundbreaking work globally, and IPSG is proud to support their continued success.
